It's Raining Coupons!!

I'm not sure if I have announced on here that I have begun to write articles for the Review-Journal all about coupons of course.  Well, guess what?  I have started to write articles for the Review-Journal all about coupons!  You can find them at http://blogs.reviewjournal.com/topic/community/shopping.  Don't worry, I will still be posting on this blog as well.  But for the big doozies, I will direct you to the RJ's site.  Here I have a little more freedom to be my silly ol' self and give you whatever info you want.  So... my article today was about the THOUSANDS of dollars that are now in our Sunday newspaper!! Seriously cannot believe that I scored over $2000 this week!!  Here are a few more pics of what my morning looked like...

My 8 newspapers I got today!!! Yes, 8!  If you haven't had a chance to check out the new deal Grocery Smarts has hooked up for you, check out this link and get your papers started next week.  Remember, a good rule of thumb is one newspaper for each family member in your household.  Count the babies too, and if you are just getting started, you should get a few extra to really get that stockpile going.

Here are ALL the coupons you should have found in your Sunday paper this week!!  Check out my RJ blog post for the exact breakdown on values.
Don't forget about the value of other coupons to be found throughout the paper as well.  I always pull out the Joann and Michaels ads since they each will have a 40% off coupon for regular priced items.  Little tip:  Did you know that they each will accept each others coupons??  Now, some items that you may want to scoop up to start decorating for the fall you may not be able to use these on, but be creative in there.  Not everything that is orange, black, or brown will be on sale.

This week too, I found the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon in the Living section of the Review-Journal.  If you have not ventured to Green Valley to check out this store, you are missing out!!  It is a crafter's dream in there and can be overwhelming if you are not prepared with a handful of these in your back pocket.  I pulled out the Sears ad as well just in case I need to go clothes shopping this week.  That coupon is for 20% off!  I mean, really??  Just another reason why I love Sunday so much!!

Why it PAYS to get the Paper

I love doing this little exercise every so often to remind me what a good deal I am getting on the newspaper each week.  Sometimes when grocery store sales aren't that exciting, or the coupons are getting repetitive, I like to play a little scavenger hunt to see what other kinds of savings I can find in my Sunday paper.  This week, I took a few extra minutes to really look through some of the ads and here's what I found:

5, 50% off notebook coupons for Staples
5, $1/2 for Kellogs FiberPlus cereals or chewy bars
55, 40% off coupons for JoAnns (lots of coupons on the back of their ad - stock up time)
5, 15% off entire purchase at Michaels (plus all their 40% off coupons too)
5, 20% off for Bed Bath and Beyond (I'll probably use them to buy some more space bags - I just discovered them and am wondering how I lived without them all these years)

All that added to my SmartSource coupons which I figure I will only use about $15-18 from each one, so that will save me around $90 down the road!  Not a bad deal considering I only paid $123.50 to get all 5 Sunday papers for 6 whole months!  This is why I love having multiple papers! All these savings for less than $5 per week! Seriously, even if you aren't a big couponer yet, how can you pass up a deal like this?

If you do not have your paper yet, get together with a friend and pick a day to host a class so you and your friends can get this great deal on the paper too... Let's get you saving some money!!!

Multiple Inserts!

Did you get all 3 inserts on Sunday?
Another reason to love the new year... after a few weeks of coupon-less papers, they sure make up for our missing inserts by sending a whole bunch!!  For those of you who started this week - Welcome in a BIG way!  I love to peek at my coupons and add up how much cash I will be saving by using the coupons my family needs and this week is a doozie!!  (Remember, your numbers may be more or less depending on what types of products your family uses)

SmartSource (Sears) holds $20.60 in coupons I would use - times my 5 papers that $103 in savings!
SmartSource (DirectTV) I would use $14.85 from this one - times my 5 papers = $74.25
GeneralMills (well I just love these) I can save $12 for each of those too! That's $60 for all 5.
GRAND TOTAL of potential savings this week: $237.25!

Considering I only paid $123.50 for 6 months worth of papers I would say it's worth it to have my multiples wouldn't you?!!!  For you number crunchers our there, that's about $4.75/week to have the papers delivered to my doorstep!

I can take subscription orders over the phone whenever you are ready to get started.  Call me if you want to jump on the coupon wagon (882-0172)!
Now I can't wait to get to the store - yipee!!

p.s. watch out for a GM promo at Albertsons this week. Add the promo with your coupons and watch out! Oh, and Smith's is having a case lot sale!  Should be a great week for some big time savings!
