Review Journal 101

Delivery Issues?
Billing Issues?

Please call RJ Customer Service directly @ 383-0400

At my coupon class, I am able to offer the Review Journal at deep discounts for my fellow coupon-ers.  Why would we pay full price for anything...even our coupons!!  Since I am the one that you get your papers from, I often get questions about subscriptions and renewals, so I thought I would try and sum it all up for you....

What kind of subscription does Grocery Smarts offer?

At our classes, we sell subscriptions to "Sunday Only" delivery papers. To get this special offer, you have to have at least one subscription which we can also set up for you at our classes.  Plus, when you order at a class, you can earn up to $20 in free groceries for purchasing more than one paper. However, the Review Journal limits delivery to a maximum of 5 papers per residential address. You are set up for a 6 month subscription, so check for your renewal notices half way through the year.

When I order a paper from you, how long will it take to start?
It typically takes 2 Sundays for your delivery to begin.

Who do I call if my delivery is wrong?
I wish I could help with that, but the best way to get your delivery corrected is to call RJ Customer Service directly at 383-0400.  I am not able to call them on your behalf as they would not allow me access to your account for privacy purposes. By requesting delivery of any missing papers on Monday's route, you'll save the delivery person from being charged or fined. And let's be real... we want them to love us! PS - They are paid per paper they deliver, so they are paid very well to deliver multiple papers to one address!

When I renew will the rates be the same?
Yes! If you set up your papers with any Grocery Smarts Instructor, those rates should be the same when you renew. The RJ knows we are getting our multiple papers exclusively for the coupons, which means they know if they increase the rate... many (if not most) of us would cancel. However, it is IMPORTANT to know that if your original paper was "converted" to a daily subscription and you kept it, your renewal rate would reflect the current going rate for a daily paper delivery.  The BEST way I have found to renew is by going to www.lvrj.com and click on the little icon in the top right corner.

I don't understand my renewal notice, can you help?
There's a few things that are helpful to know when looking at your statement. First... because the first paper you ordered from us (or your existing non-GrocerySmarts subscription) is a different rate than the discounted "multiple" or additional papers, they are set up on 2 separate accounts. Both are set up in your name, at your street address... they just have different account numbers because they are set up with differing rates. So, when renewal time comes around, you should be watching for two separate statements if you are getting more than one paper delivered. Mistakenly, some Grocery Smarts subscribers only pay the first invoice they receive (ignoring the other one thinking they already paid it), then the other papers stop coming.

IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!!
If you do not call to cancel your subscription, your papers will continue to be delivered!!  Note the small print on the renewal invoice: "Subscription will continue at your regular rate unless you call 702-383-0400 to cancel.  If you fail to pay for the papers you do receive, you will receive a bill of collection from the RJ.

If this happens, I cannot help you sort that out.  I can however, get you restarted if your account has lapsed for 30 days or more, you can call me (882-0172) and I'd be happy to get you set up again!

Is the cost of my subscriptions really worth it?
For me... absolutely! I spend $17.25 a month for my 5 newspapers (if I count my $20 free grocery card), and by using multiple coupons I save an average $500 to $600 per month!! So, yes, I would say it's worth it!!

I hope this helps!! Please feel free to call me if you have any additional questions!

Rolling Transactions!!

Can it be??  Albertson's is having another General Mills promo this week (it seems like this just happened a few weeks ago)!!  These are my favorite types of promos to practice my "rolling" transactions.  So, here's a little tutorial on how "rolling" transactions work:

***** * General Mills Promo: Save $5 on your NEXT shopping order when you spend $15 or more on participating General Mills products.*
Sale prices shown BEFORE/AFTER factoring in $5 coupon. Essentially a 33% discount. Use the first price to add up to $15.
**** Betty Crocker Cookie Pouches, 17.5 oz. 1.69/1.13 Betty Crocker Cookie Mix, any flavor 17.5 oz or larger, .40/1 DND DNT GroupA AND GroupB Print each twice $0.73
**** Betty Crocker Cookie Pouches, 17.5 oz. 1.69/1.13 Betty Crocker Cookie Mix, any 17.5oz or larger .40/1 (1/9/10) GeneralMills-11/15 $0.73

I will buy 9 cookie pouches for my first transaction (9 x $1.69 = $15.21).  I have 9 coupons because I printed 2 each from Group A and Group B and then I have my 5 General Mills inserts from 11/15.  So, my total to pay on this transaction will be $11.61 and I will get a $5 reward for my next purchase.

This next purchase will happen as soon as I slap that little plastic stick down on the belt.

***** Betty Crocker Specialty Potatoes, 4.6-6.6 oz. 1.00/.67 Betty Crocker Potatoes, any flavor box or pouch, excluding Potato Buds, .40/1 DND DNT GroupA AND GroupB Print each twice $0.27
***** Betty Crocker Specialty Potatoes, 4.6-6.6 oz. 1.00/.67 Betty Crocker Potatoes, any box or pouch (excludes Potatoes Buds) .35/1 (1/9/10) GeneralMills-11/15 $0.32
**** Gold Medal Flour, 4.25- 5 lb. bag 1.69/1.13
$1.13
***** Green Giant Vegetables in Sauce, 7-10 oz. Box frozen 1.00/0.67 Green Giant Frozen Boxed Vegetables, any two (2), .50/2 DND DNT (12-31-2009) GroupA-12/1 and GroupB-12/1 Print each twice $0.42 ea

I will buy 9 Specialty Potato boxes (9 x $1=$9), 2 bags of flour (2 x $1.69 = $3.38), and 4 boxes of GG Frozen Vegatables (4 x $1 = $4).  That puts my total at $16.38.  I will use my coupons for a savings of $4.35 AND my $5 coupon from the previous transaction.  So, my total out of pocket for this transaction will be... $7.03 AND I will earn another $5 coupon for my NEXT transaction!!

It is so important that before you go to the store, you know what items will be in each transaction and how many of each item you need to reach your $15 requirement.  This will make things go so smooth when you are ready to check out.  I even go as far as printing out separate transactions and keeping my shopping cart organized by those transactions.  Yes, I am a GEEK!

(Note: your last transaction should be the meats and produce you plan to buy for the week, or things NOT included in this promotion. Use that last $5 to pay for these items and save even more on your everyday items)

Pretty simple right!!  I can't wait to hear how much you saved this week rolling transactions!!  Leave a comment or email me a picture and I will add you to my Grocery Gallery!  Have fun and Happy Saving!

Changing of the Guards

If you have been around the Grocery Smarts world for a while now, no doubt you know or have read posts from Colette, author of the Shop Smart in Vegas blog. Did you know that she has been serving as the Manager of Grocery Smarts for Southern Nevada for the past year and a half? Did you know that without her expertise and ingenious ways, we would not be enjoying the benefits of this amazing company? She was the driving force that brought GS to our area, and we all owe her more than she will ever know!

Please take a moment, go to her blog, and leave a comment letting her know how much you appreciate all she has done and how much she will be missed!

As we all know, life happens and our circumstances change - hopefully for the better. It seems to have happened like that for both me and Colette. As she prepares her family for their next phase in life, I have been blessed with the opportunity to step in her shoes. They are big shoes to fill I am very well aware, but I am thrilled for this new opportunity. This new position means a great deal to me and my family, and while I feel quite a bit less "with it" than Colette, I am learning a ton from her and am excited to take the ball and run with it!

One new thing that is coming down the pipe is a new hostess incentive program!! By hosting a class, you can potentially make more than the original $20 gift card incentive. Call me or email me for more information and to get your class on my calendar! Despite what you may think, the holidays are a PERFECT time to host a class because at your class, I will teach your family and friends how to SAVE money. What a great way to either end or start the new year. If you have hosted a class in the past - why not do another one?! I'm sure you have a handful of friends who missed it the first time around.

I will have an extra special bonus gift for the first 5 classes that are booked that mention this post!!

Tis the Season

I just love this time of year! I love the cool weather, and I love that my kids tend to be a little better behaved ;-). I also love that for a full month, we get to focus on the reason we celebrate this miraculous season! My friend Colette has done an amazing blog to help countdown the days until Christmas. It is beautiful and there will be a post every day with a special message to help remind us of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I opened it a little while ago to check it out, and am hooked on the beautiful music she put on there as well. So, thank you Colette for such a beautiful advent calendar! And I hope you all enjoy it as we begin this Christmas season.

A Shadow Canyon Christmas

The picture above is my children after our little miracle baby arrived 4 years ago. I keep this picture in my hallway all year long as my sweet little reminder of the miracles He performs in our lives daily. Happy Holidays!!
