Filing your Coupons

STOP clipping coupons! Right now, I mean it! Put the scissors down and read on to learn how to organize your coupons in less than 5 minutes each week - even if you get several papers like I do.

One of the first rules I teach in my classes is to NOT cut out any more coupons when you get them. Do not even look at them - that way you aren't tempted to use them at the wrong time. Simply take your inserts, write the Sunday date on them, slide them in a sheet protector, and file them away. Super easy right?

  • Note: You will need a file box after a few months of saving coupons, but in the meantime an old binder and a few sheet protectors work great.
After you make your shopping list at http://www.grocerysmarts.com/ (use passcode g89cjm), look at the coupon index and you can very easily find the inserts in your binder. THEN clip the coupons you need for that trip only.

  • Advanced Note: When doing several transactions, I like to make a GS list for each transaction and paper clip the coupons to each one. This helps me stay organized at the store, and makes checkout very smooth.
