Coupon Policies

I have had several people tell me about difficult couponing experiences.  Well, that just breaks my heart!  Most of the situations were due to cashiers who are unfamiliar with their store's coupon policy.  In an effort to help you (and me) be better prepared for these types of situations, I have located the policies for these different stores.  Simply print them off and keep them with your coupons when you go out shopping.  If you come across a checker who questions your amazing SKILLS, you have backup to support your MAJOR savings!!  Hope this helps!

p.s. Smiths and Albertsons don't have official "coupon policies", but they are 2 stores that I have not had issues with.

Gas is BACK!

If you have been to one of my classes, you know how much I <3 Albertsons!  Well, I just got my sneek peek at the ad for this week and it looks like gas rewards are BACK for the summer!!!  As a busy mom on the go I am super excited this program has made a return. 

How it works:  Simply shop at Albertsons (using your Grocery Smarts list), and swipe your Albertsons reward card.  You will earn .05 off each gallon of gas - up to 20 gallons - for every $50 you spend... and that's $50 BEFORE coupons!!  With gas prices on the rise again :-( we all could use a little relief at the pump.  

So, while you are saving money at the store, save at the pump too!

FREE Movies

This HAS to be my favorite thing to do with my kids in the summer.  For one, its FREE!!  For another, couple this with lunch at the park and by early afternoon, you have some pretty tuckered out little munchkins (I'm so sly).   These movies are every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10am.  It's first come first serve, so you will want to get there early to get seats.

This theater is listed here because it's closest to my house ;-).  This year, there are two other theaters participating in the family film festival:  Village Square Stadium and Rainbow Promenade.  Check out the Free Family Film Festival website for shows playing at these theaters (the dates and time are still the same).

REMINDER!!

You can all the Review Journal (383-0400) and have them put a hold on your paper delivery for holiday weekends when there will be no coupons... 

The next few dates to do this are Memorial Day weekend (5/30) and then July 4th. 

Lied Discovery Children's Museum

If you haven't been to the Lied Discovery Children's Museum lately, you are missing out. The museum got a much needed face lift last year and it looks amazing! There are several new exhibits including games about food groups, a whole new town center that teaches the kids about being "green", and if the kids are not careful, they just may walk away learning something this summer (don't tell 'em).

I have found that this is one place I can take all my kids, ages 9-2months, and there is something for all of them! We purchased an annual membership which for us works out to be quite cheap - since we go several times during the year. Click HERE for prices and times.

Storytime in the Square

Reading is fun, and it’s even better with singing, dancing and magic. Bring your child to Town Square Park for an interactive story time featuring classic children’s tales and new favorites everyone will enjoy. Storytime in the Square is held on the grass in front of the Pavilion every Wednesday from 11am-12pm. You never know who may show up to help read stories and provide entertainment!

Stamp Out Hunger Drive

Tomorrow, May 8th, is the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!  Simply gather your non-perishable food items and place them by your mailbox for your mail carrier to collect tomorrow during their route.  So simple!

I have always said that one of the best things Grocery Smarts does for me is affords me the opportunity to give back without taking away from my family or hurting our budget.... So come on ladies and let's clean out those cupboards and get ready for some great sales this summer.

Town Square on Las Vegas Blvd has "Movies in the Square" on the first and third Thursdays of the month beginning at sundown. There is really no other information about where it is located, but here is the list of movies:

Lowe's Build and Grow

Lowe's Build and Grow is such a great opportunity for the kids to do some hands-on crafts, and the best part is it's FREE!  Stop by your nearest Lowe's this Saturday (May 8) from 10am - 11am to finish this set!! Sign up and print your waiver ahead of time. It's super fast and easy.

I love that when the kids complete their project, the receive a patch to go on their aprons (that are also free), a certificate with their name on it, and a candy! What a fun time!

SUMMER is HERE!!

I feel like the last two months have been such a blur & my kids just informed me that there are only 4 more weeks of school!!  YIKES!!  That means I had better get cracking with planning fun things for the summer.  I don't know about you, but my life is so much easier when the kids have some activity to look forward to each day.  This may sound like a lot of work, but I am hoping to take some of that stress off for ya.  Last summer I put together a blog specifically geared for summer activities, but it quickly became about saving money in the summer so I am going to just add it to this fantastic Grocery Geek forum.  Bookmark this blog, and watch for posts on these fun activities.  Also, at the very, very, very bottom of this blog is a calendar marked Family Fun.  You will soon see it filling up with loads of fun things for you to do with your kids in this hot Vegas heat!!  ENJOY!!
